What are "equitable funds" and how are they different from mutual funds?
My parents were advised to invest in equitable funds because their investment advisor has been delegating his responsibilities by having them in mutual funds. What does all this mean?

It is an insurance policy that invests the premium in "seperate accounts" that are similar to mutual funds; however, these Annuities typically come with high fees and long surrender periods.
It means they should seek the services of a Certified Financial Planner who works on a "fee only" basis, who can give them unbiased advice, since they and you obviously don’t have a clue.
