Index Funds and dividends ?

I am thinking of buying some Vanguard Total Bond Market Index (VBMFX ) and Vanguard Total Stock Mkt Index (VTSMX ).

1- Do these index funds give dividends?
2- If so, where do you see that they do on google finance page for example or morningstar? I cannot find anytning that says dividends.

Thanks.

How do I take out my Vanguard investment for college without taxes?

My grandparents set up a Vanguard investment for me when I was born.
I’ll be going to college this spring, and I’m told there’s a way to get the money without taxes if it’s for school; How?

What is a good precious metal mutual fund?

Vanguard doesn’t have one anymore. Does anyone know a good mutual fund company that still has one?

Where do I get a "free" list of all index funds, please . A list not by a symbol or name.?

I know that morningstar provides that but they ask you to buy membersip. I’m sure I can avoid that. I know that Vanguard lists them nicely, but I am a interested in other than Vanguard’s too. Thank you.

Is there any risk involved in putting money in money market account?

I know money market account is not isured by FDIC. I will have about 300K to invest but since the stock market is really volatile right now, I like to start investing slowly. I am planning to put some money in money market account at Vanguard. Their money market account have a slightly higher return. I also want to buy some mutual funds that Vanguard offers in the future.
But I am just a little concerned about putting all the money in just one account. Any thought? What kind of risk shoud I think about? Should I go with CD or Bond?

Is my money safe in Vanguard Prime Money Market Fund?

It’s a money market account that is not FDIC insured. I put funds in Vanguard because it was getting much better interest than a bank, now I don’t know if it’s a good idea.

Should I make a lump-sum contribution to my mutual fund account or take advantage of dollar-cost averaging?

I received some inheritance money that I’d like to invest for retirement. I plan to open a mutual fund account with Vanguard and begin investing in index funds. Should I invest the entire lump sum at once or keep it in a high-yield money market account and fund the mutual fund account monthly to take advantage of dollar-cost averaging?

Assume I have no bad debt, have already established an emergency fund, am contributing to a 401(k), and am funding a Roth IRA (also with Vanguard) to the annual max.

Is it risky to have all your assets in one mutual fund family?

If I have my money all in vanguard ( in a variety of funds), would I lower my risk by adding another fund family (ex: fidelity)? Since all the money is ultimately in the stock market, I can’t see how it would be less riskier to invest in 2 fund families. After seeing banks fail, people lose houses, huge financial firms go bankrupt, I’m nervous about having all my assets in one institution, but even in Vanguard went bankrupt, I’d still have all my mutual funds in the stock market, right?

What are peoples opinion on etfs vs mutual funds?

I saw suzy orman the other day and she says that ETFs are much better than mutual funds. But i called vanguard up and asked them their opinion, and they said that mutual funds are better in the long run because there is no fees to buy more shares, even duo the expense ratio is more that for ETF (a diff of .07 to .25). and with ETFs every time you buy there is a price per share.
