Ok, i know nothing about finance( i am actually a physiotherapy student) , but i know that the only way to be rich is investingbuying assets.

I want to start some investment and buy some stock online, so where can you start from? where can you get the information froms? Do i need to hire a stockbroker? How much starting money do you need to start? ( i am not very rich or i wouldnt be here )

some expereinced stockbroker ’s answer would be great to give me some hint and ideas how to start

I’ve heard that if you have Index funds and they go down too far you can go broke, but then I heard people say that when index funds go down you should continue buying…I don’t understand, if you are broke, I assumed the stock was worthless. However, does it mean keep buying shares becasue the stock is still valuable. just not as valuable as it used to be, but it will probably go up in the long run so the potential is to make a whole lot of money when it does?

I have been with a stock mutual fund for 20 years and for the last 3 years capital gains are increasing to the point where this year they reflected a third of the total value of the fund. This is killing me in terms of tax penalties and liabilities. Why would this happen and what does this tell you aboutr the fund?

If you want to sell a stock on the market do you have to set an ask price and have someones bid price match your ask price in order for it to sell or is there a way for you to sell the stock at anytime incase you want to get rid of the stocks quickly without doing the bid ask process?
