Money market mutual funds versus On-line savings account?

Hi there … Assuming one gets the same yield (pre-tax) from money market mutual funds & on-line savings accounts, is there any advantage of one over the other? For example, is the tax treatment of earnings different? Apart from feedback, if u can refer me to any article/publication, that would be gr8 too. Thanks, in advance, for your help!

Is ING money market account insured by FDIC?

I can’t seem to find a straight answer from their website. I have money invested in ING Direct money market and afraid i might lose money sooner or later. Should I take it out?
I found out their mutual funds aren’t actually insured by FDIC, only their CD’s and Savings accounts are.

Does opening several online money market accounts affect your credit?

I have a couple money market accounts already and just recently opened up a 3rd money market account. Then I got an offer today for a higher interest rate elsewhere. Does opening and having numerous of these savings accounts affect your credit?

What is one of the best money market checking/savings accounts with the highest interest yield?

I currently bank of Bank of America. I am disappointed in their low interest rates and am thinking of switching to a brokerage or mutual fund firm that handles checking and savings accounts as well as retirement funds. Can anyone recommend one that yields a decent rate of return with low fees? I’m also thinking of possibly linking a Capital One 5% money market savings account to my existing accounts. Does that make sense to do?
