I would like to know if I need to keep bank and mutual Fund statements?

I have kept bank and mutual fund statements for years. I would like to throw them away if not needed. I have some mutual funds I purchased 15 years ago with dividand invested. In order to calculate the cost basis of the fund when I sell the shares, I think I need to keep records of the cost of share when the dividend was used to purchase additional share. Many of the large Mutual Fund companies have started capturing the cost basis for shareholders in the last 10 years so they calculate the cost basis for you. Some of the smaller mutual funds companies do not have this type of service. Any advice is helpful.

For the bank statement, after I reconcile the checks, do I need to keep them for any reasons?

Why are mutual fund companies with high expenses still around?

I’ve noticed that there are numerous, numerous mutual fund companies that have funds with expense ratios exceeding 2, 3, and even 4 percent. With fund companies like Vanguard and Fidelity offering funds with expeses that are a fraction of that, why are people still investing in high-expense funds?

Is it wise to invest in different mutual fund companies or just one?

Is it wise to invest in different mutual fund companies or just one company for maximum returns? My reason is that in case Company A fails, I still have a backup with other companies.

What is your opinion on this, will it matter if I invest in different companies? What are the chances that a mutual fund company will actually fail/close?
About diversification: isn’t mutual funds already in itself diversification?

Are mutual funds required to disclose ALL fees they will charge in the prospectus?

I’ve reviewed the prospectus for American Funds Growth Fund of America. According to the prospectus they only charge a set up fee and annual fee of for class A-529 accounts. I have a regular class A retirement account, but am being charged a annual fee and was charged the setup fee. I am positive this fee is not listed in the prospectus. Can mutual fund companies charge fees that are not disclosed?
This is NOT a college account. It is a class A IRA.
