Should I make a lump-sum contribution to my mutual fund account or take advantage of dollar-cost averaging?

I received some inheritance money that I’d like to invest for retirement. I plan to open a mutual fund account with Vanguard and begin investing in index funds. Should I invest the entire lump sum at once or keep it in a high-yield money market account and fund the mutual fund account monthly to take advantage of dollar-cost averaging?

Assume I have no bad debt, have already established an emergency fund, am contributing to a 401(k), and am funding a Roth IRA (also with Vanguard) to the annual max.

If I withdraw money from my 401K and place it in a money market account, will I have to pay taxes on the sum?

I am 60 years old and I want to put my savings a safe place. I want to suppliment my retirement income with the interest from a money market account. The problem is: will I be taxed on the lump sum that I transfer from a 401k to a money market account?

How to change the agent code in mutual funds?

I have mutual funds in which I have invested through different agents. For these I get statements separately. Now I want to transfer all my mutual funds to my Bank account so that I get a consolidated statement for the amount invested through SIP and lump-sum.
