The best way to learn about stocks is to go to the Motley Fool website. It is http://www.fool.com. At the top menu there is a selection called Fool’s School. Click on this and you can begin to learn about stock investing. No, this is not a joke and I’m not calling you a fool for wanting to do this. The website has a funny name but is a very good source of free information.
I would also recommend reading a book by Lawrence Cunningham called "How to think like Benjamin Graham and Invest like Warren Buffet".
You could also set up a pretend account. As you learn, you buy stocks with the pretend money. Give yourself $100k and use Excel. It’s a great way to learn stock investing.
As anyone will tell you, if you have Credit Card debt don’t even bother investing in the stock market. You’ll earn far greater returns by paying off the debt. Also, you will need a good 2 to 3 months worth of salary saved up as a buffer for accidents or quick needs for cash. After you’ve done these two things then you’ll be ready to save and begin investing.
Good Luck!
