Index funds-want to sell but afraid of ST capital gain tax!?

Here’s my situation. I have an index fund for about 4 months. I’m afraid the markets are going down, so I’m considering selling and putting the money elsewhere. But considering I only made a few hundred dollars on it, should I even bother selling and paying the 35% short term capital gain tax? And how do year-end distributions fit into all of this?

Thanks for any help in advance!

Your one and only consideration in the stock market should be maximum capital gain.

Leave it alone. Who has the ability to time these markets. Especially if it is a small amount. If you are ever going to make money its not by trying to time in and out. If you see us go down, put some more in. You are in effect buying at lower prices.
